International Trade Centre

Hotel Versante, Richmond, BC.

A 240,000 Sq’ mixed use project consisting of two office towers and a boutique hotel with commercial and retail space at ground floor and podium levels.

The landscape components comprise a new elongated public plaza along the building frontage to the south, at podium grade a communally accessed park and private outdoor salt water swimming pool and spa for hotel guests with a extensive green roof above the office tower.

The landscape design inspiration derives from the interplay of both natural and manmade landscapes.  Echoes of the super graphics associated with Vancouver international Airport runways, floating log booms on the Fraser river and distant north Shore mountain ridge lines all inform a dynamic geometric composition of outdoor spaces designed for social gatherings and relaxation.

At ground floor level an innovative, permeable, stone paving system dissipates stormwater flow in this low lying site.  The geometric design approach employed on the podium is continued to define a seamless shared stone paved pedestrian and vehicular realm servicing retail, hotel and office buildings while helping to embody a strong visual identity within a peripheral landscape of large scale infrastructure and Fraser river delta regional character.  Intimate scale is further refined with playful lighting and texture animating the ground plane to create an energetic and lively space drawing guests towards the hotel and associated restaurant & spa facilities.
